It was only a matter of time before the world of cannabis joined forces with the world of celebrity endorsements, like every other major money making venture in the Western World. And recent celebrity endorsements have taken the new era of legal cannabis marketing to a whole new level, with some of the biggest names in the previously underground industry getting on board.
Just like in the U.S., the cannabis industry in Canada is new and always changing, and some recent regulations have both posed some challenges and presented some new opportunities for Canadian marijuana entrepreneurs.
Marketing and advertising marijuana can be very challenging since marijuana spent the longest time classified as a Schedule I drug. Cannabis used to be a legal medication prescribed by doctors and can be purchased in pharmacies. However, it was banned after a black propaganda against the drug was spread. Now, the society is reverting back and is recognizing the benefits of recreational and medical marijuana use. Marijuana use is now in the midst of a legal battle in most US states. Currently, only Washington and Colorado allow the freedom to grow, sell, buy, and use marijuana in private clubs and certain public festivals.
After states settle whether to legalize medical and recreational use of marijuana, states can start worrying about how to start marketing and advertising the substance. Marijuana is a social stigma because cannabis spent decades classified as Schedule I drug. Before it was banned in the country, cannabis is a drug prescribed by doctors and can be bought in pharmacies. Cannabis is reported to cure some rare diseases, but formal researches and studies about the subject matter has not been undertaken because of the government’s lack of support to such endeavors.
We can say that the current level of marijuana advertising is still in its infancy stage. This can be attributed to the fact that society is resistant in accepting marijuana. Cannabis is currently in the middle of its battle for its legalization. Some states are following the footsteps of Washington and Colorado in legalizing the medical and recreational use of marijuana. Supporters of its legalization argued that marijuana offers a lot of health benefits and has very low risks. Some states recognize the medical benefits of the substance allow access to cannabis given the patient has obtained prescription from legitimate doctor who have seen their case.
Marijuana advertising is a concept that can make some conservatives winced. This is because people are not used to blatant advertising of a substance that has been underground for quite a long time. Recreational use of marijuana is still in the midst of battle as most states prohibit its use. Advocates push the legalization of marijuana in order for people to have freedom smoking a joint. After the legalization of the use of the said substance, there are roadblocks on the marketing and advertising of marijuana. The following are the top places where one can advertise marijuana.
Although some states have not approved the legal use of marijuana, for some states that does, one of the hurdles that must be surpassed is marketing the substance to consumers. In Colorado, one of the states that allow consumption of marijuana recreationally and medically, there is a slow but steady shift from traditional methods of consuming marijuana to other ways. This means that users are no longer just smoking it. Another way of consuming pot is through edibles, or food infused with the substance. We are all familiar of “pot brownies,” which is often served in parties. The effect of ingesting marijuana through edibles is different from smoking it. This is because the drug is slower to take effect, but lasts much longer. Thus, users feel “high” for quite some time.
Given a choice, would you vote “yes” for weed? Marijuana also known as “pot,” “grass,” “dope,” and medically-referred to Cannabis is in the midst of a heated debate pushing its legalization. Some states already allowed the use of the substance for medical purposes. Washington and Colorado are the only two US states that allow both medical and recreational of marijuana. In these states people can spot medical dispensaries almost everywhere and users can enjoy a joint in private clubs as well as in public festivals.
In 1971, a middle-aged woman decided to smoke marijuana for the first time in her life, only to find outthat she was allergic. Her doctors, baffled by her mild anaphylactic reaction, published her case in the first report to ever document this phenomenon. Despite leaving behind a medical legacy, it’s unlikely that this woman was the first person in history to have this unfortunate allergy. As recent studies show, cannabis allergies are on the rise as more people around the world try the drug. Some workers in the hemp industry have also reported allergy-like symptoms, which may include rhinitis (nasal congestion, runny nose, sneezing, red eyes, etc.), hives, or swelling.
When you cook with cannabis something happens that doesn’t happen when you smoke it. When you eat cannabis it goes straight into your bloodstream. When you smoke marijuana it goes into your nervous system. When you eat it the high lasts longer and it takes longer to take effect. Cooking with cannabis give’s you the decarboxylation. Turning THCA into THC. So cannabis is an amazing plant. It contains these molecules that can be abstracted from the plant in a variety of ways.
I really hate how this is presented. More demonization of cannabis. This is not the new a drug on the street. Anybody who grows cannabis or has done any type of research on the molecules and their properties of the plant would understand what shatter is. What you can use CBD shatter for besides smoking. Cooking that work great for treatment for a lot of mental health/ health issues, chronic pain. You can also make oils for massage and tinctures
Back in the times when the medical field was uncultivated and lack innovation, people turn to traditional forms of medicines. People praise herbal plants that have medicinal effects in treating various diseases. In developing countries, where medical help is still out of reach, these practices are still in use.
Soon, gone are the days when you want to enjoy a joint means dropping by to a place with shady aura with rustic gates. At the counter, customers can purchase a brownie or another edible without proper packaging and printed information about its contents. With more US states moving towards in legalizing marijuana use, its target market will be bigger and the demand will be higher. Moreover, it will be easier for people to obtain a stash of the substance on the streets. Currently, most states have a black market for marijuana.
Legalizing marijuana is the current roadblock that must be overcome to obtain freedom in marijuana use in the United States. Marijuana has always been a subject of a hot, public debate since the substance offers two sides of the coin. Just like in any debate, people are divided in their views about the substance as marijuana is constantly in the gray area. Those on the “pro” side argued that it is best to legalize marijuana because of its prevalence and demand.
Soon, gone are the days of hidden rendezvous with your dealer as there is a possibility that you can buy weed in convenient stores. The pot can be consumed like cigarettes and alcohol. Legal use and procurement of marijuana is in the midst of debate and lawmakers are battling whether to allow the public to openly use marijuana. The substance is currently decriminalized in a total of 18 US states with Washington and Colorado allowing users to freely use weed.
There is an ongoing battle to legalize marijuana use and advocates are clamoring for lawmakers to say “yes” in decriminalizing cannabis. The cannabis industry is a big business that is booming because of its current legislative battle. Soon, there is no stopping the mainstream marketing and advertising of marijuana. Currently, 18 states allow the use of marijuana for medical purposes and 17 of these states decriminalized the substance. Meanwhile, only Washington and Colorado allow freedom of marijuana use.
Everyone loves NPR’s show Planet Money, and on February 6th, the show ran a special edition called Big Weed, in which they explored the ins and outs of the industry, and why it is so hard for legitimate dispensary businesses in places where cannabis is legal to open bank accounts and do the other things that regular businesses need to do. This was a very interesting edition of their show, and a much needed wake-up-call to the world that cannabis business owners deserve to be treated like everyone else.
We all know that support for cannabis legalization is growing all the time, but did you know that Republicans, well, at least the millennial Republicans, are mostly in support of legalization too? In light of recent legislative changes, young Republicans are showing as much support for cannabis as their more liberal counterparts.
Colorado cannabis dispensaries are now facing another harsh penalty on top of not being able to open bank accounts or take out loans; they are being charged an additional fee for paying their taxes in cash rather than electronically filing.
2014 marked the first official year of legal cannabis sales in the United States, ever, and Colorado sold a whopping $700 million worth of cannabis during this first year, according to official tax records. According to The Cannabist and based on the numbers pulled from the official Department of Revenue this year, the cannabis sales total for the the tax year were $699,198,805. $385.9 million of that can be attributed to medical sales across the state, and $313.2 comes from recreational sales, squeaking by right behind the medical with some pretty impressive numbers.
